Summer is officially here!
Whether you’re the type to wait for the summer solstice, declare Memorial Day the start of the season, or simply decide it’s summer the first time the humidity hits you in the face at 7 AM, there is no denying it now.
This week we’re sharing early Independence Day celebrations around the Hereford Zone, a Friday evening recurring food truck event at Prigel Creamery throughout the summer, and a local snowball stand.

If you haven't made it out to Prigel Family Creamery for a Flavor Friday yet, consider this your sign to go! Each Friday evening through October 9th, the Creamery is hosting a rotating lineup of food trucks and live music. Food kicks off at 5 PM and live music starts at 6 PM, weather permitting. Picnic blankets, camp chairs, or a tailgate are highly recommended as seating is limited. And of course, save room for dessert! Here's what's coming up through the end of summer:

🎆Early Independence Day Events
Unless you’re new to the area, you likely know that many Independence Day activities actually take place the week prior to July 4th in our little pocket of Northern Baltimore County. To make sure you don’t miss any of the fun, here is a list of activities this weekend to celebrate our great nation.
Hereford Independence Day Parade & Fireworks
Sunday, June 28 | 17301 York Road, Parkton
Parade: Beginning at 6 PM from the Graul’s Market parking lot, this one is chock-full of farm equipment, classic cars, and fire engines that your kids are sure to marvel at. The route begins on Mount Carmel Road, continues north on York Road and ends at Hereford High.
Festival & Fireworks: The Festival at Hereford High will begin following the parade at 7:30 PM. Fireworks show to follow at dusk. If needed, the rain date is scheduled for Monday, June 29th.
Jacksonville Fireworks
Saturday, June 27th | 3400 Hillendale Heights Road, Phoenix
Fireworks: Held at Jacksonville Elementary School and beginning at dusk.

🍧Hereford Zone Snoballs
There's just something about a snowball on a summer afternoon that reckons you back to your childhood, am I right?!
Our family made a quick Father's Day stop at Hereford Zone Snoballs this past weekend, and it was one of those simple family outings that reminded us you don't have to go far to make a fun memory.
Other than deciding which flavor to order from the six page menu, the hardest part was actually finding the place! It’s tucked between I-83 and the Exxon station on Mount Carmel Road, but you can’t get there from the Exxon parking lot. Take a quick glance at the map before you go and you’ll be all set.
When we visited, there were about ten other people enjoying the beautiful weather. The lawn area had plenty of picnic tables with colorful rainbow umbrellas and Adirondack chairs. The oversized Connect Four game immediately caught our kids' attention. Only one person was working the stand, but service was efficient and friendly.
We ordered four small snowballs (strawberry, cotton candy, watermelon, and blackberry), all regular flavors at $4 each. Premium flavors are available for an extra dollar, and they also serve Hoffman's Homemade Ice Cream (local to Westminster) if that’s more your vibe. Just make sure to bring cash, as they do not accept cards.
By the time we loaded back into the car, our two-year-old had snowball on her outfit, red-stained legs, and absolutely zero regrets (YOLO!). We climbed back into the car, stuck out our tongues, and compared whose was the brightest shade of red before heading home.
An unassuming stop that turned into a Father’s Day memory.
