Hey all! Welcome to Front Porch Families, a hyper-local newsletter for parents, families, and anyone interested in the goings on in our little pocket of northern Baltimore County and the surrounding area.

The idea behind this newsletter is simple: helping local families stay connected to the people, places, businesses and events that make this area so unique.

On any given week, you may find us sharing things like:

🎪 Family events and seasonal festivals

🍦 Ice cream spots

🍻 Breweries and restaurants

🛝 Playgrounds, parks, and nature trails

🐮 Farm events and local markets

💭 Parenting and local-life thoughts sprinkled in along the way.

We’re local parents raising our two kids (ages 5 & 2) here in Northern Baltimore County, and over the years we’ve realized how much is happening in this “sleepy” area north of the Beltway that we simply never heard about.

Our hope is that this newsletter helps families feel more connected to the community, and maybe even discover a new favorite park, seasonal tradition, or local business.

As technology continues to change the way we live and interact, we’ve come to appreciate how valuable real-world experiences and community connection really are.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for being an early reader! We appreciate you and are excited to build this alongside you.

If your a busy Mom or Dad and this sounds like something you’d be in to, go ahead and subscribe to be included on the weekly mailer. And if you have suggestions for something we should feature: events, businesses, fundraisers, playgrounds, nature trails or any other hidden gems just hit reply and let us know.

Next Weekend’s Front Porch Pick

Before we sign-off, one quick recommendation to follow up this wet Memorial Day weekend.

The Inverness Brewery Pony Races are back for another running! Post times begin at 1 PM on Saturday, May 30th in Monkton and admission is free. For those whose littles are no longer need the 1 - 3 PM nap window, this is a great opportunity to get out into the sun (🤞🏻) and enjoy a refreshing Silks Pale Ale. They don’t allow outside food, though we’ve never had an issue bringing in snacks for our kids.

Cheers,

Patrick & Laura
